Central Walk

  • Central Walk

Central Walk is a wonderful shopping centre to start and end your day in Shenzhen. With the Carrefour supermarket you have a good selection of food, including fresh bread and sometimes cheese. The shopping centre is spread over 3 floors, the ground level is actually the top, with two levels underneath.

The lowest level has cinemas, showing a variety of movies from new Chinese releases (some with English subtitles), relatively new English releases (with Chinese captions), and some older English movies (like Robocop 2, as of Feburary 2014). There’s also a big arcade on this level containing a variety of games, from basketball skill challenges, a padded playground for the youngsters, lots of head-to-head racing games, the usual set of coin machines. I’m fairly sure one arcade game was a head-to-head of something like Age of Empires, that looked fascinating. It’s a typical arcade, loud noises and ringing bells, a good place to remember those good old days.

Food is very well served here, the Japanese sushi restaurant on the lowest level (outside in the sub-ground level) is fantastic, the quality of food is superb.

The Central Walk shopping mall is a 5 minute walk away from Coco Park, but it is also connected underground to it by Link City, a huge restaurant area filled with a vast assortment of food choices and cuisines. It always seems to be busy, no matter what time of day. This Link City shopping centre is below the Futian Shangri-La hotel.

Central Walk is on the intersection between the Green Luobao line, and the Red Longhua line. Across the road is the Shenzhen Convention Centre.

This includes travelling tips about how to get around, as well as getting to and from Shenzhen via Hong Kong International Airport.

I've recently completed my third visit to Shenzhen in just over a year. It is a beautiful modern city, with lots of green space to relax in.
