East Oversea Chinese Town (OCT-East)

  • East Oversea Chinese Town, Shenzhen, China

The Eastern Oversea Chinese Town (OCT-East) is a sprawling theme park in Yantian, Shenzhen. It starts near coast level all the way up the nearby mountain, and higher, if you have the strength for the stomach-churning rides.

From the funicular near the summit you can see all the way down the mountains to the famous Dameisha beach. It offers spectacular views of Shenzhen, particularly Shenzhen Bay with it’s shipping facilities, and of the rear side of Hong Kong and into the South China Sea.

There are multiple areas within OCT East, including a rustic Seafield Village (complete with an equally rustic Starbucks), a bird sanctuary with regular displays of bird-skills, an Aqua Centre, . The Adventure Canyon hosts multiple rides to cater for a wide variety of tastes, from a rollercoaster to a 3D adventure ride to the Centre of the Earth.

About Shenzhen Geek Trails

See Shenzhen in your own time and at your own speed.

A travel guide for Shenzhen (in Guangdong China) written by an introverted geek for an introverted geek. Not your standard commercial tourist fare, but a selection of interesting places where an introvert can explore on their own, or with a friend. And quiet spaces to reflect and introspect.

This includes travelling tips about how to get around, as well as getting to and from Shenzhen via Hong Kong International Airport.

I've recently completed my third visit to Shenzhen in just over a year. It is a beautiful modern city, with lots of green space to relax in.
